Vita

At the age of 29, he moved to the town of Yuanmingyuan (near the Old Summer Palace), which is considered an “artist village” near Beijing, and was henceforth considered one of the pioneers of so-called cynical realism. He has been among the leading group of contemporary Asian painters in Europe, at the latest since he represented his country in 1999 at the first Venice Biennale, led by legendary curator Harald Szeemann, with a series of portraits in red. His work is characterized by a very wide range of styles. For example.B, in his paintings after 2001, he approaches traditional Chinese ink painting.
