At the age of 29 he moved to the place Yuanmingyuan (close to the old summer palast) nearby Peking, a village that was full of artists, so he was presumed to be a forerunner of the so called Zynical Realism. At the latest he represented his country with red dominated portraits at the Venice Biennale in 1999, manged by the legendary curator Harald Szeemann, even in Europe he belongs to the market leader of contemporary Asian painters. His work is characterized by various different styles. In his works after 2001 for instance he approaches the traditional Chinese indian ink painting.
